Green Mantis was founded by brothers Dean and Skylar Swinney, bringing together over 30 years of combined, hands-on cannabis experience across nearly every part of the industry. Our journey didn’t start with hype or shortcuts, it started with doing the work, learning the business from the inside out, and earning our place over time.

Dean entered the cannabis space in 2013 after moving to Boulder, Colorado, where he worked on the accounting and regulatory side of the newly emerging recreational and medical markets. As regulations shifted constantly, he helped operators navigate compliance and financial structure during one of the most challenging periods in modern cannabis. Soon after, Skylar returned from Brazil to join the family effort, stepping into operations and eventually helping scale a leading cannabis brand from Colorado to Nevada and back to their home state of California. With accounting, operations, and sales handled in-house, the foundation was set.

Over the years, we’ve done it all: sales, manufacturing, distribution, product development, compliance, marketing, and innovation. That experience shaped our philosophy. We saw too many companies built with unnecessary overhead, inflated pricing, and people disconnected from the product. Green Mantis was created to be different, lean by design, hands-on by choice, and focused on delivering quality products at fair prices.

While we’re Californians through and through, we believe New York represents the future of legal cannabis. We waited for the right moment, the right market, and the right opportunity to bring our approach east. Our goal is simple: apply a laid-back, California-style mindset to a fast-moving New York market. Built on quality, transparency, education, and respect for the community we’re entering.

We’re not the loudest brand in the room. We don’t need to be. We’ve put in the time, learned every side of the business, and built Green Mantis for the people of New York.
